stuck on the second floor.

I have been feeling stuck lately. Stuck in my thoughts, stuck in my routine. I am a person who likes routine so to be stuck in it is more like climbing these dark stairs up, and up and up, never reaching a destination, just slowly getting winded.
I keep waiting for the action, to climb onto the floor with the plan and the focus and the direction. Or maybe just the floor with the dance party.

I just looked at the 10 day forecast and there is barely a flurry in sight from now until right before Christmas. How can there be no snow in December in Maine?

But, with all of the stuck-ness and the doom and gloom of there not being snow in December i'm feeling inspired. I'm inspired to bake and take pictures and play with wool and yarn. I'm also feeling a little excited to write. To here we go again. The Year of Take, 3 years later.

DOMA

In case you don't know about DOMA (The Defense of Marriage Act), here is the lowdown.

go. fight. win.

About DOMA:On September 21st, 1996, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was signed into federal law. DOMA, wrote discrimination into the Constitution with two strict regulations:
No state (or other political subdivision within the United States) need treat a relationship between persons of the same sex as a marriage, even if the relationship is considered a marriage in another state.
The Federal Government may not treat same-sex relationships as marriages for any purpose, even if concluded or recognized by one of the states. To drive the point even further, 37 states slowly but surely adopted DOMA as a state-wide regulation further amending state Constitutions. This appalling law tells the American people that it is OK to discriminate. That it is OK to recognize the LGBTQ community as less than equal. This same law, that the California Supreme Court deemed unconstitutional set the precedence for Proposition 8. This same law has nullified many rights that come with Domestic Partnerships. This law has nullified the heterosexual rights that come with Common Law Marriage. This law blurred the lines of separation of church and state even further. And this law, is one of many that President Elect Barack Obama has PROMISED to repeal in his "Open Letter to the LGBTQ Community

Tbones

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the rekindled friendship between Tbones Meoli and Hurricane aka "trainwreck" Jayne. This is an important milestone for both parties due to some previous tension in some business relations in the early 2000's. Tbones had this to say about the reunion "the past year has been filled with great joy and laughter. I couldn't imagine going through IBS without the support of Hurricane Jayne. Her constant need to be "important" really ads to a certain level of discomfort that i find, well, comforting." Hurricane Jayne was unavailable for comment but her website had this comment about the event. " I can't stand the unbearable trainwreck that is my life, and Tbones makes it all that more painful."

ahem. i'm back.

I was part of history today. I was in a room of powerful people. Gay, Straight, Male and Female. We made a decision that will change history. I'm scared and excited. I feel powerless and powerful. I feel full of the love and compassion and understanding. we did it. now we know we Can do it.
